A rich but non-greasy eye cream for the thin, dry skin around the eyes, where fine lines set in earliest and the barrier is weakest. It addresses both the moisture loss that worsens crepey texture and the dullness that reads as under-eye shadowing.

Pyunkang Yul formulates from herbal medicine tradition, and the botanical core here is astragalus membranaceus root extract, a tonic herb rich in saponins and isoflavonoids. The structural work is done by three ceramides, NP, NS and EOP. Ceramides make up roughly half of the lipid matrix holding the outer skin layer together and are depleted in dry and ageing skin; supplying them in more than one form reduces water loss through skin a fraction of the thickness of cheek skin. Niacinamide adds barrier support and a gradual evening of tone, which is why it matters for shadowing, and adenosine is recognised in Korea as an anti-wrinkle functional active. Shea butter and macadamia seed oil give the emollient cushion.

The result is a gel-cream that stays put overnight but sits lightly enough that concealer does not slide. It is free of alcohol, added fragrance and essential oils.

Key ingredients

  • Ceramide NP, NS and EOP — three barrier lipids that restore the mortar between skin cells and reduce water loss from very thin under-eye skin.
  • Astragalus membranaceus root extract — the brand's signature herbal tonic, contributing saponins and isoflavonoids.
  • Niacinamide — vitamin B3; supports barrier lipid production and works gradually on uneven tone and shadowing.
  • Adenosine — recognised as an anti-wrinkle functional active in Korean regulation.
  • Shea butter and macadamia seed oil — emollients that soften dry, crepey texture.

How to use

  1. Apply after serum, before or alongside your moisturiser.
  2. Warm a rice-grain amount per eye between the fingertips.
  3. Tap gently along the orbital and brow bone, inner to outer corner.
  4. Do not drag or rub. Let it absorb before make-up.

Recommended frequency

  • Dry or mature skin — twice daily, morning and night.
  • Normal or combination skin — once daily at night, adding a morning layer in winter.
  • Oily or milia-prone eye areas — night only, applied thinly.

Softness and reduced tightness are apparent within days. Fine dehydration lines usually improve over four to eight weeks; tone and shadowing changes are slower, on the order of eight to twelve weeks.

Best suited to

A strong fit for dry, dehydrated, sensitive or early-ageing eye areas, and for anyone who cannot tolerate fragranced eye products. Very oily lids or a tendency to milia call for a thin layer at night only. It is a barrier and hydration product, not a de-puffing treatment.

Good to know

Free from added fragrance, essential oils and alcohol, which makes it one of the safer options for reactive or allergy-prone eyes. Keep it on the orbital bone rather than the lash line so it does not migrate into the eye overnight. It layers alongside retinoids and vitamin C without conflict, though very sensitive skin may prefer alternate evenings for a retinoid.
