Hydrogel eye patches that pair retinol with bakuchiol, aimed at the crepey texture, fine lines and dullness that show first around the eyes. They do two jobs: a short, high-hydration treatment that visibly de-puffs before make-up, and a low-dose route to retinoid ingredients in an area most people hesitate to treat with a full-strength cream.

The patch is a water-based hydrogel set with carrageenan, carob and guar gum. That structure matters: unlike a soaked fibre sheet it does not dry out during wear, it clings to the contour under the eye, and its occlusion drives the water-soluble ingredients into the upper layers over twenty minutes. Niacinamide sits third in the ingredient list and is the workhorse for tone and barrier support. Retinol and bakuchiol appear far lower down, which is deliberate: the eye area does not tolerate high retinoid doses, and bakuchiol acts on similar pathways with a milder irritation profile. Around them sit glycerin, sodium hyaluronate and allantoin, adenosine for smoothing, and an antioxidant fraction of astaxanthin, ubiquinone, resveratrol and berry extracts.

Each jar holds 60 patches — 30 pairs — at 1.4 g each, with a spatula so the gel is never touched by hand.

Key ingredients

  • Retinol — the reference anti-ageing active for fine lines and texture, here low in the ingredient list for eye-area tolerance.
  • Bakuchiol — a plant-derived ingredient used as a milder alternative to retinoids for smoothing and firmness.
  • Niacinamide — third in the list; supports barrier repair and evens the thinner, darker skin under the eye.
  • Allantoin and dipotassium glycyrrhizate — soothing agents that offset the retinol.

How to use

  1. Cleanse and apply toner first, so the patches sit on damp skin.
  2. Lift a patch with the enclosed spatula and place it under the eye, thicker end towards the outer corner.
  3. Leave on for 20 to 30 minutes.
  4. Remove and press the remaining essence in; do not rinse.
  5. Follow with eye cream or moisturiser, and sunscreen in the morning.

Recommended frequency

  • First-time retinoid users — two evenings a week, building up as tolerance allows.
  • Established routine, mature or dry skin — three to four evenings a week.
  • Before an event — 20 minutes in the morning for immediate de-puffing and smoother make-up.
  • Timeline — hydration and reduced puffiness the same morning; texture and fine lines respond to retinol slowly, so allow 8 to 12 weeks.

Best suited to

Dry, dull or ageing eye areas, and anyone who wants retinoid benefits at a cautious dose. Not for broken or actively irritated skin. Anyone avoiding retinoids in pregnancy or breastfeeding should avoid these too, since retinol is declared in the formula.

Good to know

The formula contains fragrance, so patch test if your eye area is reactive or you wear contact lenses. Do not use on the same evening as another retinoid, a strong AHA or BHA, or a peel; alternate nights instead. Retinol increases sun sensitivity, so daily sunscreen is not optional. Keep the jar tightly closed to stop the essence evaporating, and chill it for a stronger de-puffing effect.
